Comprehensive Safety Programs

We take the safety of our workers and the public extremely seriously. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, roughly 150,000 construction site injuries occur each year and we take all possible steps to ensure that none of them happen on our sites.

We have an excellent safety record and have received numerous awards for our safety program. We work closely with OSHA, ConnOSHA, and our insurance carriers to make sure that our job sites and our safety programs are as comprehensive as possible.

We often work in high-risk environments and the way we perform our work can literally be a matter of life or death. Nothing is more important than making sure that our workers, our clients, and the public are kept safe.

Commitment to Sustainability

Babbidge is fully committed to constructing our projects in an environmentally responsible fashion and we work diligently to ensure that our clients’ sustainability objectives are met. We have successfully completed several projects that have been awarded LEED Platinum or Gold certification, including the first laboratory project in Connecticut to achieve a Platinum rating.

All of our field people are trained in construction waste management, and regardless of whether a project seeks specific sustainability certification, we develop waste management and indoor air quality plans for all of our jobs. The EPA estimates that Construction and Demolition (C&D) debris totals roughly 570 million tons per year—which is twice the amount generated annually as municipal solid waste. These are unsustainable numbers, and we must take action to reduce construction waste generation through intelligent programs of recycling and reuse.

We are an Organizational Member of the United States Green Building Council.
